James Lee Burke wurde 1936 in Houston / Texas geboren und wuchs in Louisiana auf. Aus der Dave-Robicheaux-Reihe wurden zwei Krimis verfilmt: Mississippi Delta (»Blut in den Bayous«) mit Alec Baldwin in der Hauptrolle und Mord in Louisiana (»Im Schatten der Mangroven«) mit Tommy Lee Jones. »Mein Name ist Clete Purcel« ist Band 24 der Dave-Robicheaux-Reihe.
