I read the story of Drizzt's rise from Menzobarenzen, to his gathering of allies that slowly become friends then family, and being elvish, ultimately his past, during the happiest two years of my life. I will never forget this incredible story. Im only 9 books from finishing up all that has been written about Drizzt by his creator but after losing the person who made that two years so incredible i may never be able to finish Drizzt's journey without bringing back the pain of her loss.

Awesome read first read it in 8th grade and still love it to this day the only thing missing from the digital copy was the opening poem. " Come gather round hardy men o'the steppes and listen to my tale of heros bold and friendships fast and the tyrant of Icewind Dale of a band of friends by trick or by deed bred legends for the bard, the baneful pride of one poor wretch and the horror of the Crystal Shard."

About the author
R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachusetts in 1959. He is the New York Times–bestselling author of more than forty novels, including the popular Forgotten Realms series, The Legend of Drizzt. His love affair with fantasy, and with literature in general, began during his sophomore year of college when he was given a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings as a Christmas gift. He promptly changed his major from computer science to journalism. He began writing seriously in 1982, penning the manuscript that would become Echoes of the Fourth Magic.
His first published novel was The Crystal Shard from TSR in 1988, and his novel The Silent Bladewon the Origins Award. He is still best known as the creator of dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden, one of fantasy’s most beloved characters.
