Jules Verne nacque a Nantes (Francia) nel 1828. Romanziere fecondo e geniale, ha prodotto opere straordinarie e indimenticabili. Oltre a L’isola misteriosa (1874), ricordiamo Viaggio al centro della Terra (1864), Dalla Terra alla Luna (1865), Ventimila leghe sotto i mari (1869). Morì nel 1905.
