This is perfect for some easy reading on the commute to work and a read before bed. Definitely a teen/young adult book but still worth a read if your a little older like me. I connected with the characters, even though things turned out a little predictable. Good, entertaining read however and will now be downloading the next in the series.

First: If you seldom read or are teen/preteen in age then this is a book that you should read. It's a segue into the world of the sci-fi thriller with enough Stephen King-esque styling to grip you. Get it when it's cheap or read something like The Hunger Games series instead. *(Don't read if the fist bit applies)*Secondly: If you read a fair ammount or if you read thrillers then don't waste money on this unless it's going cheap. It uses well trodden tropes and themes in the usual organised manner, it won't surprise you at all. I'd say the best way to describe it is an mildly interesting variation on the general idea of Sci-Fi thriller, I hope that you maybe enjoy it.

This book plunges you into an intriguing and confusing situation, and the gradual discovery of what is going on is very engaging . It's well written, with believable characters. I'd recommend it highly, though I feel it fell short of a 5-star standard simply because I would have preferred some further intrigue inside the maze itself (which features in the title, after all): some more obstacles or strange devices, for instance. I feel the book may have suffered from the author having one eye on the next two books in the sequel, which has caused this book to fall short of a perfect standard in my view.
