Eleanor H. Porter nacque nel 1868 nel New Hampshire (Stati Uniti). Il primo libro, Pollyanna, pubblicato nel 1912, riscosse un enorme successo. Nel 1915 seguì Pollyanna cresce, che confermò la popolarità dell’autrice. Morì nel 1920 a Cambridge.
