مهدي خليل مات جسداً، رحل ذاك الصوت الصارخ، والعينان المشعتان، رحل ذاك الوجه الحالم، وهدأت تلك الخطوات الواثقة واستراحت بعد أن عبّدت لنا الطريق. غادرتنا تفاصيلُ من مهدي، لم تعد بيننا، ولكن كل مهدي، روحه تحيا بيننا وتثمر. رحل ذاك الصوت ولكن كلماته لا تزال تصرخ، رحلت عيناه، ولكنّ فكره المنير والمشعّ يستمرّ ضوءاً لا يخفت... استراح ذاك الوجه، ولكن حلم مهدي بالوطن الحر والشعب السعيد لن يستريح. هو لم يختر العيش بل اختار حياةً من دون موت، اختار خلوداً خطّه بالحبر والعرق والطبشور. ذاك المناضل لم يسترح يوماً ولن يستريح... جسده هادئٌ هناك فوق تلك التلة، أما أفكاره فهي دوماً في قلب المعركة لا تهدأ، تصرخ فينا، تحثّنا على النهوض، على المثابرة والمضي قدماً، ترشدنا الى ذاك الدرب الذي، كل حبة تراب فيه، تحكي حكاية مناضل من رفاق مهدي خطا خطوات الخلود، وخطّ تاريخ حزبٍ عريق.
