I feel like I have to lower my rating and update my review. I've played for about six years now, started just after the first anniversary. It kept me occupied for ages. It's still easy to play and no need to pay so that's a pro. It's just gotten so meh. The designs for new ship girls are very samey, when they do add something new like the recent island update, it's just a boring, pointless time sink. I feel like they've abandoned their core characters in favour of a money grab with lewd skins.

Im not sure when it happened, but the game has leaned heavily into a very specific body type that just doesn't appeal to me. I do miss the variety it once had, as every new character is either stacked beyond belief or a lolita. Aside from that, the core gameplay loop has really stagnated over the years. The biggest changes (private quaters and your life sim) are isolated from the actual game of naval combat. Overall, its been a rather odd direction they've taken.

I like it. I've been playing for 2 years now. You can play as a F2P player with no issues. The gacha (yes, it is a gacha game) seems to be very fair and is easily workable if you save your "cubes" and "gold". The gameplay is a 2D side-scrolling, bullet-hell shooter using the different types of ship classes. The art is of a very good standard and there are several large communities out there that keep the game alive. Give it a try, it's a good game.
