BAIKOH: Word Challenges

Balancing isn't great. The better you are, the quicker you lose. The difficulty ramps up so harshly (and doesn't drop off again), you get bombed with tiles and obstacles. Magnets can kill instantly if they fall on a high row. I get much more points & last longer if I play slow and don't do much. Please allow your players to do well instead of punishing them for it. It's destroying any kind of flow the game could build up. It's a shame because the app is well done, has good art & sound design. :(

Great game. Shame it's virtually unplayable. Around 10 to 25% of screen presses made, the game does not register. Sometimes it will even make the click sound as you touch to select a letter, but it won't add the letter to the word you are making. The faster you type, the more often this happens. Since the premise of the game is to make and type words quickly, it's damn frustrating. All 'Typo's' are penalised, so you'll spend a lot of time deleting letters and retyping words, til you lose - often without making any genuine errors. It's only this game that's ever had any trouble detecting my screen touches. Also, the dictionary used in the game is missing quite a few common words. Im not repeatedly stopping mid-game to write a list of unrecognised words, to then e mail them to the developers etc. I just wanted to chill out for 5 mins. I've played maybe 6 or 7 times, but still have no idea what half the special blocks do, or how to stop them, or how to 'arm' or use power-ups etc. 5 or 6 of these new blocks are added in the first few games, each with its own mini tutorial. Waaaay too many different special blocks and far TMI to take in all at once. Aside from those things, the basic game is really good, and it has some great little touches. I'll give it another try, but I think ultimately I'll have to uninstall it before I jab my finger through my phone, trying to get it to register a key press.

I like the concept and it's very nicely drawn. However, it really only rewards speed. As a result, you end up typing the same simple 2-, 3- and 4-letter words over and over; which makes the game repetitive. With a few tweaks to reward longer or more difficult words, the game would have had more depth.
